Job Description
The Gardener is responsible for keeping the garden and surrounding areas in a presentable manner and performing general garden maintenance as required.
What you’ll do:
Carry out duties in a planned way, following work schedules, organising materials and equipment
prior to commencing work
Mow, whipper snip and water lawn areas within the station complex
Perform routine checks on all equipment prior to use
Operate equipment as required, following all safety precautions
Observe and report equipment issues
Perform routine maintenance as required and report any major repair needs
Maintain personal equipment in reliable condition
Maintain a tidy/clean workplace and quarters
Apply chemicals as required, operating only under supervision until trained; follow chemical management procedures in AACo Reference Manuals
Maintain water supply equipment in good working order
Committed to innovative environmental management to protect our natural resources and promote sustainable agriculture
Desired Skills and Experience
Experience and skills you’ll have:
Current Drivers Licence (Heavy vehicle licence where applicable)
Demonstrated competency in all tasks reasonably required of a gardener
Ability to comprehend written and oral operational and safety instructions
Ability to work both alone and as part of a team
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Ability to organise/prioritise tasks and meet deadlines, whilst working under pressure
Mature and rational approach to problem solving
Flexibility - able to meet changing requirements
Initiative - ability to take quick action when required and actively pursue opportunities to make further contributions
Teamwork - ability to work with other people towards a common goal, establish effective collaborative relationships with other people in the business
