Goonoo Feedlot & Station is situated in the Central Highlands of Queensland, 65km southeast of Emerald, and is a specialised Wagyu feedlot & backgrounding operation, feeding 20,000 head of Wagyu cattle for both international and domestic markets.

Job Description
The position of the Goonoo Livestock Manager is a key management position responsible for supervising and managing all aspects of the Goonoo Feedlot Livestock Team. The role responsible for supervising intake schedules and induction procedures of all cattle at Goonoo. Supervising all cattle handling, handling for cattle treatment and selection and drafting for dispatch are key components of the role. Manage activity broadly to achieve annual production targets and to provide cattle to customers that meets the requirements for quality
Key Responsibilities
Supervise the intake schedule of animals into the feedlot
Ensure cattle are kept at the correct pen density and receive feed and water.
Assess the cattle before induction to ensure they meet intake specifications
Authorise appropriately trained staff to carry out chemical treatments
Manage the inventory of induction supplies and order as required.
Supervise cattle dipping and maintenance of the cattle dip.
Report any non-conforming cattle to Goonoo Feedlot Manager & Operations Manager
Coordinate cattle movements within feedlot.
Ensure all pens are ridden daily in accordance with Livestock Procedures
Ensure all Veterinarian’s hospital procedures are followed, and hospital records are maintained
Manage the inventory of hospital drugs and order as required.
Supervise the selection and drafting of cattle for dispatch
Work closely with Feedmill, Maintenance and Station teams
Desired Skills and Experience
Experience Required:
Ability to coach and mentor, passionate about developing and building capability in people.
Experience in hitting KPI’s ensuring that key Company and financial targets are met
Full strategic accountability for the management and successful execution of the Station's program
Excellent organisational skills overseeing day-to-day planning, within a logistically busy and diverse environment within the Feedlot
An understanding and appreciation of requirements to run a busy station, and complex problems to solve
Confidence with technology, ensuring it drives innovation and efficiency throughout the business
Strength in stakeholder management
Experience in feedlot cattle management and water management
Good understanding of cattle and animal welfare
Knowledge of Quality Assurance Program
Experience in intensive operational cattle management
Experience and an understanding of loading and unloading cattle trucks
